Pictures of David P. McCanless grave and the Lawrence Cemetery
McCandless Pictures - David P. McCanless

These are images taken at the Lawrence Cemetery,  the final resting place for a man who was a pioneer of the Robertson Colony and an important figure in the Republic of Texas.  David P. McCanless figured in the operation of the Robertson Colony and became a Land Commissioner under Sam Houston in the Republic.  Besides the land he had from the Colony, he was given a League and a Labor of land based on the time of his arrival in the Mexican State of Coahuila y Tejas that became Texas.

I think this cemetery, overlooking a large man-made lake is part of that land grant.

The picture on the right is the tombstone of David P. McCanless, on the left is his daughter's, Macca Orange and her husband, Joseph T. Lawrence
