Department of the Interior Homestead files These federal records are held by the National Archives. You can check out the Western Land Grants web page for records from 1870 to 1930. You can search by Section, Township, Range, and Meridian or by Name or by Keywords. You need to have a map showing the Townships and Ranges to locate the properties in question.

The problem with the Western Land Grants is that they give only Section, Township, and Range information. There is a web site which will convert the Section, Township, and Range for you here.
