The Eastern Manitoba Gen Web Project is a small piece of the Manitoba
GenWeb Project, which is part of the Canada GenWeb Project. The Canada
GenWeb Project consists of a group of volunteers working together to provide
Internet websites for genealogical research in every county/district/region
and every province of Canada. The Project is non-commercial and fully committed
to free access for everyone.
The purpose is to create a global library for genealogy research
on the Web. Canada researchers are very fortunate in that there is already
an enormous amount of Canadian information available on the Internet. The
role of the Canada GenWeb Project is to assist researchers in locating
this information, as well as to add to the existing online data.
The Eastern Manitoba GenWeb region entails all of the area
within the following boundaries; from the 52nd parallel, south along the
Northeast shore of Lake Winnipeg; along the east shore of the Red
River to the Flood way; around the east side of Winnipeg to the east shore
of the Red River following it south to the American Border; east
to the Ontario border;
and then North up along the Ontario/Manitoba border.
The southern area of this region borders Lake of the Woods, Minnesota,
and the northeast corner of North Dakota.
