The Kanawha Republican
January 8, 1842

Died at his residence, three miles above Charleston, on Wednesday the 5th inst., Mr. James Bream, a highly respected citizen of this county, age seventy four years.


The Kanawha Republican
January 15, 1842

Died at his residence, near this place, on the 5th inst. in the 75th year of his age, James Bream Esq. after a painful illness of several weeks.
Mr. Bream was a native of England, and after his removal to the United States, resided in Richmond, Virginia and engaged in the mercantile business. He then removed to Kanawha, where he resided till his death.
In 1831 he made a profession of religion and in 1832 was ordained a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church.

The Kanawha Republican
April 1, 1843

The society of Charleston has been called to mourn the loss of Mrs. Lavina V. M. Patrick, the wife of Dr. S. Patrick, who was removed by death the 26inst., in the 39 year of her age. She has left a family of seven children, one of whom is but a few weeks old, to mourn the greatest loss which young children can meet. Mrs. Patrick had been for several years a member of the church.
