Per Hardesty's Book on Putnam Co, WV, pg.116-117, this is the person that Teays Valley in Putnam Co, WV was named for. ".....a large portion of it was included in the land grant made to Thomas Teays, and located by him in the year 1796, containing 27,000 acres." Also see pg. 124 in article on "Pioneer Settlers" and pg. 146 in article on "Teays Valley District".
