General Notes for Child James Park Reveal
According to the book "History of Charleston and Kanawha County" by Laidley (page 76), James came to Kanawha County in 1815.(This was from a section on early settlers of the Kanawha Valley.) He settled on the north side of Elk River about the fourth home up the river. His occupation was a boat builder.
"He died on Elk River prior to Civil War" according to page 921 of the Laidley book. (This was from a section on individuals of importance in 1911, and consists of information supplied by that individual's family.)

Based on the above, it seems doubtful that he was born in 1795 as per Morman Records. If he were one of the men aged 20-30, then he would have been between 5 and 15 when he arrived in Kanawha Co. and bought land. (Impossible!) If he were the man listed as 40-50, then he was born 1780-1790. If he were the man listed as 50-60, then he was born 1770-1780. Of course, it is possible that the census taker simply made a mistake in the category which he placed James and that he should have been listed as 30-40.
Since he was a boat builder, this was probably James, plus 3 males who worked in the business, and boarded with his family.
His widow married a man who was described as a boat builder in the 1850 census. Did she inherit the business? There was no will probated for James, and the second marriage for Nancy was not recorded in Kanawha Co.
