FUNERAL OF F. A. LOVELL
On Sabbath last the Kanawha Belle brought down the remains of Mr. F. A. Lovell, of Charleston, from Malden. The funeral was published to take place on Friday last, but was postponed till Sunday, to enable the friends from a distance to attend. The remains of the deceased was escorted to Charleston by the brethren of I.O.O.F. belonging to Malden. The Members of the order in this town turned out in force and made a fine display. The body was conveyed to St. John's Church, where an impressive sermon was delivered. The remains were deposited in the family burying grounds across the Elk. The funeral procession was the largest ever in Charleston.

General Notes for Child Maria Jane Lewis

from West Virginia Newspapers Obituaries 1822-1899 Vol.1, pg 75:

The Kanawha Republican
September 8, 1847

Maria Jane Lewis, eldest daughter of Charles Lewis deceased of Mason County, died at the home of John D. Lewis in Kanawha Salines, on the 30th of August, in the 21sy year of her age.
For some montys her health had been declining, and the hope was entertained, that spending the hot months of summer in the mountains would recruit her wasted strength. The experiment was made but proved a failure. No attention of friends, no skill of physicians, no change of place, could arrest the fatal disease. When convinced that death was approaching, she earnestly desired to return home, that she might breath her last there. With difficulty she reached her uncle's on the 29th and expired early the next day.
