Per annotations to the 1850 Kanawha Co, VA census: he " was taken from his home in Bedford Co., VA at the age of 7 by Indians. He remained with the Indians for 7 years. Afterwards he fought at the battle of Pt. Pleasant against Indians. He served under Col. LEWIS and killed 9 enemies. He, then, fought for for seven years in the Continental Army and when peace was declared, settled in Botetourt Co., VA."
