The Kanawha Republican
March 17, 1852
Died at Mr. Henson's Tays'(sic) Valley, Putnam County, Virginia on the 4th of March, Edward R. Fife, of Batesville, Arkansas aged about __. He removed from Kanawah some 2 years ago, had returned from buseness; had been in the county but a few days, went to the Valley to visit some friends, where he took a cold or a fever of which he died after a short illness.
Mr Fife has lived among us for more than 30 years. He has long been a professing christian, a member of the Baptist Church;__ all his friends, by all who knew him, no man has ever stood higher for goodness of heart, for high minded integrity of character and modest worth than the deceased. The loss od such a Husband and Father must be most severely felt by his family.
