Died at his residence in this town, on Sunday morning, the 16th inst. after a long and painful illness, which he bore with exemplary fortitude and resignation, Dr. Samuel Shrewsbury, in the 41st year of his age.
His remains, attended by his bereaved and venerable parents, and a large concourse of mourning friends and relatives, were conveyed to the residence of his father, to be interred in the family burying ground.

February 26, 1842
Departed this life the 15th inst. at 12 o'clock p.m. Mrs. Sally Shrewsbury, wife of Joel Shrewsbury Sr. Esq. in the 66th year of her age. Mrs. Shrewsbury was for nearly twenty years previos to her death, the subject of sore affliction both mentally and physically. On the 9th of June 1825, she was called to mourn over the loss of a promising son, then in the 16th year of age, which brought upon her despondency and melancholy; from which she had not recovered before she was agai, on the 29th May 1830 visited by the death of a favorite daughter, then in the 19th year of her age.
For nearly twenty years she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. (The Lynchburg Virginian)

Died at Kanawha Salines on Thursday the 5th inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Ruffner, wife of Lewis Ruffner, Esq., in the 39th year of her age. The disease which brought her prematurely to the grave, was pulmonary consumption. She connected herself with the Presbyterian Church.
