Acton Library Trustees Meet With Architect
ACTON—The Library Trustees met with Isador Richmond, architect, at a special meeting last Monday night to discuss the expansion of library facilities in the town. Mr. Richmond was luke warm in his enthusiasm for adding onto the present Acton Memorial Library in Acton Center. He stated that, in his opinion, the cost would not justify the results and that the town should either build another library to the rear of the present library or erect a new library on another site. He favored a site which would be close to the population center of the town, easily accessible, and attractively designed to induce the greatest use by the residents of the town.
He indicated that he would be willing to make schematic studies for both an addition and a new building, however, and give cost estimates. He stated he would be willing to do this for $3,000.
The Trustees have taken his suggestions under advisement, and will continue to study the best means for solving the town's growing need for additional library facilities.

Slain Girl Taught With
Former Maynard Teacher
MAYNARD—A local note of interest concerning last week's slaying of 23 year old Beverly Samans in her Cambridge apartment is that the B.U. graduate student had been doing musical therapy work at the Walter F. Fernald School in Waltham where the principal is Lawrence Gomes, former special class teacher at Maynard's Green Meadow School.
When questioned by reporters as to Miss Samans, Gomes said that she was an excellent teacher and a very conscientious worker. Gomes also said that the children were disheartened when they learned of her sudden death and they would miss her.
Gomes taught at the Green Meadow School until 1960 when he resigned to take the administrative position at the Fernald School.
