Church History Course
Lectures by Dr. F. A. Christie Begin Friday
at the Whistler House
The first in a series of five lectures on the subject "The Church and the Community in New England History" will be given at the Whistler House on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Francis A. Christie, DD, a recognized authority on church history.
The course is being given at the request of a number of men and women of the city who are interested in the early thought and the religion of New England. Choice of Dr. Christie as the lecturer is an admirable one, since the lecturer has had extensive training in his subject, both as a student at John Hopkins university and German universities and as a teacher of church history at the Meadville Theological seminary.
Subjects for the lectures are as follows: November 4, "The New England Establishment"; November 9, "Failure of the Exclusive Policy"; November 18, "Methods of the Churches"; November 25, "The Division of Congregationalism"; and December 2, "New Social Activities of the Churches".
The public is cordially invited to attend the lectures all of which will begin at 4 p.m.

Entertain Friends at Halloween Party
A private summer residence at Long-South-For pond was the scene of a Halloween party last evening at which the Misses Mary E. Carney, Mary T. Quinn, Dorothy Maguire and Madeline Gately of this city were hostesses to more than 25 of their friends.
Among the guests were young people from this and other cities, the latter including several young ladies of Greater Boston who are classmates of Miss Quinn at Regis college in Weston.
The colors of orange and black predominated in the decorative scheme which was used to advantage in adorning the rooms of the residence and also the tables on which a buffet luncheon was served by the hostesses. Various games appropriate for the Halloween season were played and several hours of dancing enjoyed during the evening.
