GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY
South Chelmsford Couple,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Belleville, 50 Years Wed.
A mass at St. Mary's church began the observance today of the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Belleville of South Chelmsford. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Daniel S. Gorman, pastor, at 7:30 o'clock and was largely attended by friends of the celebrants.
This afternoon from 3 to 5 o'clock and in the evening from 7 to 9 o'clock, a formal celebration is planned to which friends of the couple have been invited. Guests, it is expected will be present from Hinsdale, N.H., Medford Hillside, Woburn, Mattapan, Newark, N.J., Plainville, Conn., Wakefield, Nashua, N.H., Lowell and surrounding towns.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Belleville are in good health, although Mr. Belleville has lost his eyesight which curtails his activities about his home and farm.
Mr. Belleville was born in Three Rivers, Canada, but he moved to Hinsdale, N.H., when he was 12 years of age. He there married Miss Joanna Cunningham, a native of the town, where they resided and brought up their children. Mr. Belleville was engaged in the jobbing business and made many friends in Hinsdale. He and his family came to Chelmsford 25 years ago where they have since resided. It is interesting to note that Mr. Belleville's parents lived to celebrate their 78th wedding anniversary.
Their children who were with them today to assist in the celebration included William E. Belleville, of Riverton, N.J., Mrs. Charles Cone of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. George L. White, of South Chelmsford, with whom they reside, and Walter B. Belleville of South Chelmsford, and eight grandchildren.
