Woman Falls Before Train
BOSTON—July 11.—A subway train speeding into the Central square station of the Cambridge tunnel last night was stopped in the nick of time, a short distance from where Miss Mary Olida, 32, of 116 Reed street, Cambridge, had fallen into the pit.
Police say the woman walked too close to the edge and slipped over, before the eyes of two score passengers on the platform. William Perlman, station master, saw her fall and heard the rumble of the approaching train. He snatched a red flag and ran down the platform and succeeded in catching the attention of Motorman R. W. Clow.
The latter stopped the train a safe distance from the woman and she was picked up from the pit and taken to the Cambridge Relief hospital where she was treated for contusion of the back and allowed to go home.

LOWELL BOYS PROMOTED
Six Local CMTC Members Receive Warrants on Promotion to Sergeants
Among those to receive warrants on July 19 from Col. Lucius C. Bennett, camp commander of Fort McKinley CMTC¹ on the event of their promotion to the position of sergeant were six Lowell boys: Peter McQuillan of 162 Avon street, who is a member of Company A; Frank S. Fay of 71 London street, who is a member of Company I; David J. McLellan, Company C. of 29 Perrin street; Alcide C. Boucher, Company L of 61 Fifth avenue; John D. Gralton, Company M, of 212 Mt. Hope street, and Robert Marks, Company L.
The warrant issued is somewhat similar to that issued to a regular army non-commissioned officer, duly signed by Colonel Bennett, and sealed with the camp seal. It is a memento that is treasured in after years, as an evidence of outstanding ability in competition with other boys from many communities.
LORANGER FINED $100 FOR TIPSY DRIVING
Albert Loranger of 95 Gerrish avenue was fined $100 for driving while under the influence of liquor by Judge Frederic A. Fisher in district court today. He was also fined $5 for drunkeness.
Officer Bernard J. Gilbo testified that he had arrested the defendant on the night of July 4 near the railroad station in Middlesex street. He said that when he spoke to Loranger he could smell liquor, and that at the time Loranger was unable to give his name. Officers William P. Doherty and Michael J. Connors gave corroborative testimony, testifying that the defendant staggered when being taken to the patrol wagon.
Under examination by his counsel, Attorney James J. Bruin, Loranger stated that he had been shell-shocked in the war, and that at the time of his arrest he was extremely nervous.
