The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Fitzpatrick, 58 Mystic street, was the scene of a surprise party, last Monday evening, to Miss Evangeline R. Fitzpatrick, who celebrated the 15th anniversary of her birth. Miss Fitzpatrick was presented with a topaz and pearl ring. The following program was carried out: George Downs, violin selection; Frank Reynolds, Miss Frances Ahern, Miss Agnes Reynolds, Miss Julia O'Neil and Mr. William Rosenberg, piano selections; Miss Rose Bradhurst and Mr. James McConnell, solos. During the evening a collation was served.

   Dr. Roy Daniels spent Sunday with friends in Malden.
   The first rehearsal for “The District School” entertainment was held this week.
   Ellsworth Houghton has been on the sick list this week, and Nathaniel Brown has been driving the mail team.
   Misses Sophia Tuttle and Flora Reed are enjoying two weeks' vacation from their studies in Mt. Holyoke college.
   The rain was a great blessing to this village as most of our places have cisterns that have been abundantly replenished.
   Miss Charlotte S. Wood expresses gratitude for a generous gift of money from the ladies' circle and Luther Conant in appreciation of her services as an organist.
   There was a very pleasant Christmas festival in the chapel Sunday evening. Santa Claus personated in good shape by Ed Quimby presented oranges and candy from the tree, and the children were treated generously to cake and ice cream.
   It is reported that John Raymond, who has been working for Lyman Taylor, and Mrs. Streeter, who has been keeping house for Moses Taylor, were married Tuesday evening. They will live in Dorset, the former home of the bride.

   Louis Leveronia has been quite ill with tonsilitis.
   The cigar shop is closed for a week's vacation.
   Miss Gertrude Webster is visiting friends in Somerville.
   Mrs. Bertha was the recent guest of friends in town.
   Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Jones spent Sunday at C. D. Cram's.
   Ernest Fales of Somerville is stopping at G. P. Littlefield's.
   Mrs. J. McCarthy is quite ill. Dr. Barker is attending her.
   Mrs. Viola Anderson is visiting her mother, Mrs. O. E. Preston.
   Hall's shop has been closed the past week, while digging a well.
   Edgar Harood visited friends in town the first of the week.
   Mr. and Mrs. Downie spent Christmas with their son in Fitchburg.
   Mr. and Mrs. E. F. West spent Christmas with relatives in Lawrence.
   Miss Mary Devane is home from Notre Dame academy for the holidays.
   The condition of Mrs. Emeline Hall is such as to require a trained nurse.
   A. A. Hart and family spent Christmas at the home of their son in Medford.
   The funeral services of Austin Richardson were held in the Baptist church last Sunday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. Gorham Easterbrook officiating. Mr. Richardson was a member of the G. A. R. Isaac Davis Post 138, and the burial service of that organization was rendered at the church. He had resided in this village a good many years, and was quiet and unassuming. He leaves a widow and three children, and an aged mother and two brothers.

   John Duggan visited South Boston friends Sunday.
   Joseph Allen won the $1 prize at McGill's alley Monday.
   W. F. Litchfield distributed some pretty calendars this week.
   Mrs. Frank Rhul of Marlboro visited in town Wednesday. 
   B. J. Coughlin has been ill with the grip several days this week.
   Walter Priest and family spent Sunday with Fitchburg friends.
   Mr. and Mrs. John Desmond spent Christmas with Harvard relatives.
   Mrs. Charles Connor and daughter visited in Clinton during the week.
   Henry Crossley of Keene, N.H., visited in town during the week.
   Mrs. R. Cohn of Boston was a recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. Crosby.
   Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Clark of Holyoke are visiting their son, Harry Clark.
   Stetson's Uncle Tom's Cabin played to a good sized audience last night in Music Hall.
   John Sim of Prince Edward Island is the guest of Mrs. Margaret Brennan Percival street.
   Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O'Brien of Boston were recent guests of Daniel Moynihan.
   Arthur Butterworth of Beverly spent the first of the week at his home in Maynard.
   Miss Bertha Peters of Somerville is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Sanderson.
   Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hadley of Chelmsford visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rodway recently.
   J. W. Connor has laid off his cigar making help for this week to take stock in compliance with the law.
   Three 4-tenement houses on Percival street, Maynard, for sale at a bargain. Inquire of H. S. Hapgood, Stow, Mass.
