The Arlington Advocate, 27 September 1902

Last Sunday morning, at 7 o'clock, Dr. J. W. Bailey saw four Italians going up Jason street carrying guns. Suspecting that they were after birds, he followed them into the woods and, after the first shot, stepped up and threatened them with the law if they did not leave. After a good deal of talk and threats of going into the nearest house and telephoning for the police, he saw them safely down to the Avenue and on board a Boston bound car, with plenty of advice to them and their friends about again visiting Arlington woods with intent to shoot song birds.
