The Arlington Advocate, 9 February 1902
Mrs. Timothy Toomey, who resided at
46 Park street, died somewhat after
eleven o'clock Saturday night, Feb. 8th,
without the slightest previous sickness
and almost without a moment's warning.
It was heart failure induced by a fatty
degeneration of the heart. She was
attacked after retiring for the night
and lived only a half hour, although
medical aid was at once summoned and all
that could be done for her relief was
applied.
The death was a particularly sad one, coming at a period when the devoted mother had reached the time when her children were beginning to be a comfort and help to her, after the care and devotion their younger years required. There are seven daughters and one little son, besides a husband, to mourn her loss. The funeral took place at St. Agnes church, Tuesday forenoon at nine o'clock, Rev. J. M. Mulcahy officiating at the requiem mass. Beautiful flowers and the ministrations of kind friends softened the sudden and cruel blow to the stricken family, but could not bring back she who was the centre of its interests. |
