The Arlington Advocate, 16 August 1895

A narrow escape from drowning was one of the incidents of last Sunday on Spy Pond where so many resort on pleasant days. A party of lads were playing around Mr. Ilsley's ice houses, when Michael Roach, a lad of about twelve years, fell from the "run" into the water. His immediate companions did not realize the danger he was in and he had gone down twice before Robert G. Reagan, who was close at hand, reached him and succeeded in bringing Roach to shore. Had Reagan waited to remove his clothing he would probably been too late to save the drowning boy. It was no small task to restore consciousness as it was.
