Fifty Years Wedded.
———
Fifty years ago, Dr. D. T. Huckins and Miss Sarah White, daughter of Dr. Charles White, were married in Sandwich Centre, N. H., by Rev. J. C. Cromack. Yesterday was the golden wedding anniversary of the event and it was pleasantly observed at the residence of the worthy couple on Fayette street.
In the afternoon their daughter, Mrs. L. T. Townsend gave a friendly dinner in their honor and later at their home congratulations from relatives and friends were received.
The worthy couple have lived in this town 45 years and have had four children born to them, who were all present at the golden wedding last evening together with several grandchildren.
During his stay in Watertown Dr. Huckins has practiced medicine and conducted dental parlors, which he still has in connection with his eldest son, Dr. E. W. Huckins. Dr. Huckins was for many years a member of the school board, has occupied the position of assessor for several terms and has been town treasurer.
The worthy couple have enjoyed excellent health during their wedded life and have not been confined to the bed by the common ailments.
They were the recipients of a large number of handsome presents yesterday, among which were a number of gold coins.
