Neglected His Wife.
   Patrick Keegan, who has been married 29 years, and is the father of ten children, was in the police court, today, charged with neglect to support his wife. Mrs. Keegan told a pitiful story of her husband's bad treatment, caused by his drunken habits. She has been obliged to work in the mill for her maintenance.
   After the testimony, Judge Hadley concluded to give the husband another trial on the agreement to provide for his wife's support, and ordered him to May 14th.
Society Meeting.
   The St. Paul's M. E. society held its annual meeting, last evening, at which time the following officers were chosen: President, N. J. N. Bachelier; vice president, Albion C. Taylor; secretary, Charles W. Savage; treasurer, Charles J. Glidden; committee on church and parsonage N. J. N. Bachelier, Robert Simpson, W. T. Bradley; auditing committee, Robert Simpson, W. T. Slavin's Bail Reduced.
   Edward Slavin, charged with assaulting Patrick St. John, was in the police court this morning. Dr. Viles sent a written statement, saying St. John would be confined to the hospital for two weeks longer.
   On the suggestion of Daniel J. Donahoe, esq., counsel for the defendant, bail was reduced from $10,000 to $7,000, which was furnished for Slavin's future appearance.
Our Folks and Other Folks.
   Rev. O. M. Cousens, formerly of this city, is to close his pastorate in Lawrence.

   Phineas Stanley, overseer in the Merrimack mills for a number of years, has resigned.

   Harry Dunlap is to supply the M. E. church in Dracut the coming year. A. McGregor goes to Methuen.

   Isabelle M. Parker, the two year old daughter of Robert and Eliza J., died yesterday at No. 4 Main street.

   A. J. Derby, F. L. Wellman and other Lowell members of the Armoskeag Veterans, are with the company in the trip to New York.

   Hon. Francis Jewett continues to improve and the indications are favorable to his early and complete recovery from his recent injuries.

   Elmer E. Buckland, foreman at C. F. Hatch & Co., and Wm. N. Thompson, clerk at the Registry of Deeds office, have gone to New York.

   Mrs. H. B. Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Baron, James Minter and family and William Livingston, leave San Mateo, Fla, Thursday for Lowell.
