Sad Case of Drowning
Janes [not James] W., only son of Thomas E. and Alice N. Taylor, formerly of this city, was drowned at East Haverhill, N. H., June 3. He was 13 years of age and beloved by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the church at 1 p.m. Sunday, the entire community sympathizing with the afflicted family. As the Sunday school close, of which he was a member, passed the open grave each deposited a floral tribute until the casket was literally covered with flowers. The floral tributes at the church were many and beautiful, the gifts of friends, testifying to the high esteem in which the lad was held by the whole community.
Silver Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Persons were the recipients of a visit from a large member of friends at their residence, No. 32 Butterfield street, last evening, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of their marriage. Members of the Paige street church were well represented. The company was entertained with singing by the choir of the church. Mr. and Mrs. Persons were presented a nice silver ice set as a testimonial of esteen; Mr. E. L. Cardell making the presentation address. It was nearly midnight when the company separated. The gathering will be held in pleasant remembrance those in attendance.
Severe Accident to a Fireman
Jerry L. Flagg, foreman of Protective fire company, No. 1, residing in Warren court, was severely injured yesterday afternoon at about five o'clock on Fairmount street. He was at work on the top of a spliced ladder a distance of about 35 feet from the ground, painting a telephone pole, when the upper portion of the ladder broke apart, and he was precipitated to the ground. He struck on his heels and then fell backward with violence; his head striking on the concrete sidewalk. He received a cut an inch and a half long on the back of the head extending to the skull, and it is believed that the outer plate of the skull is fractured. He was unconscious for several minutes. Dr. Fox was called to attend him.
