The Arlington Advocate, 22 December 1877

POLICE COURT
During the month of December there has been considerable business before the Police Court, and as usual, principally because of rum. On the 5th [of December] the Police made seizures at the house of Michael Lane, Union street; Daniel Reardon, Decateur street; Thomas McCue, Dudley street, for selling liquor without a license, and Thomas Rowe, who has recently removed to a new house on Arlington Avenue, near the Cambridge line, for violation of his license. From one cause and another, these cases have been continued until last Monday when the three first were adjudged guilty, and fined $50.00 and costs. They all appealed, and gave bonds in $500 to prosecute their appeal. Rowe's case was continued until next Monday, at which time Judge Carter promises a decision.
