The Arlington Advocate, 16 August 1873

Last Saturday morning, as the ten minutes past nine o'clock train was coming down from Lexington, the cars came near running over a deaf old gentleman, named Cyrus Cutter, who was on his way to the Centre depot. He would undoubtedly have been killed but for the exertions of Mrs. Michael Fermoyle, who was behind him, and seeing his danger, ran to him and pulled him to one side. The cars were not more than fifteen feet in the rear when he cleared the track. The engineer blew the whistle but Cutter did not hear. We hope this will be a warning to all deaf people not to travel on railroad tracks. This is the second time Mr. Cutter has narrowly escaped with his life.
