New Engine House |
The new engine house, now being erected on the corner of Walnut street, and Highland Avenue, will no doubt be ornamental, as well as useful, to the neighborhood. It will probably be finished by the first of March. The basement is to be used for washing hose, the ground floor for the engine and hose carriage, and a stable in the rear. The upper rooms are divided into sleeping apartments, bathroom, reception hall, and a hay loft. The sum of $16,000 was appropriated for the building, but Its cost will doubtless exceed $20,000 before it is ready for use. |
