Mission AME Church Cemetery

Mission AME Church Cemetery

documented by Sandy Roberts

This was a small church that I found while searching for the Quaker Meadows Cemetery. Since there were not a large number of graves, I thought I would document it, thereby helping someone who is out there searching. It is located in Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina off of Highway 181 on Piedmont Road. There was a plaque on the front of the church that stated that it was originally built in 1884 and rebuilt in 1945. There were a few areas where there were possibly unmarked graves and some that were unreadable. I hope to check with the Church in the near future to see if there are records that I can cross-reference for a more comprehensive list.

As with all things posted on my pages, these entries are as accurate as possible but there is no guarantee that I have translated difficult to read headstones correctly. If you find inaccurate listings for which you have documentation for the correct data, please contact me so that I can make the corrections available to others.

All listings are alphabetically listed by last name for convenience in searching, however, they are typed as listed on the headstone first, then last name followed by birth and death dates. I have included other information from the headstones which helps define family connections etc....
