Edmund was a Questman (a parish officer) at Rattlesden in 1569. The questman was empowered to investigate certain infringements such was abuses of weights and measures and to act as a church warden's assistant and a collector of parish rents. He was a church warden in 1588-0, collector in 1593 and in 1611. He supposedly descended from the Kings of England although the Kimball Family Association has been unable to prove any connection.

His burial record states that he was "about ninety-seven years", however, this is probably an exaggeration.
