Edward of Salisbury, Sheriff of Wiltshire

The "Book of Lacock" states that Edward was the son of "Walterus le Ewrus, comes de Rosmar", however, the "Complete Peerage" states that Walter was probably fictitious so Edward's parentage remains unknown.(1)

Edward was the richest English tenant-in-chief in Domesday Book. He was the Sheriff of Wiltshire and was the baron of Chitterne, Wiltshire and also held the land that became the barony of Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
