    Andre was a member of Le Compagnie de l'Allier in the Carignan Regiment created by Alexandre de Prouville, Sieur de Tracy and Lieutenant General of the new world territories. He arrived in New France on 30 June 1665 and was called by the nickname "La Gachette"... one who is a good shot. In 1666-7 his regiment was involved in the Iroquois wars. Andre was discharged by 1668 when he received on 14 Oct. a piece of land from Guillemette Hebert in Charlesbourg. In 1672 he recieved a grant of another 15 arpents of land on payment on St. Martin's day of a good chicken, 15 sols and 3 deniers to his seigneur Charles Aubert de la Chenaye. By 1685 Andre and his family moved to Riviere Ouelle. At the time of the 1686 census of Acadia Andre and Jacquette and their children were living at Beaubassin. By 1688 they had moved to the Miramichi River and by 1693 back in Quebec.
