Let all men know by these presents that we Thomas Spencer of the Parish of Unitie in ye County of York planter and Patience my now wife being now or of late possest of one lot of land containing by Estimation two hundred Acres be it more or less given and granted unto mee ye said Thomas Spencer and to my heires and Assigns for ever by the Town grant of Kittery, Which land lyeth and is within ye foresaid Parrish of Unitie.

Thomas and Mary drowned in Nov. 1664 coming from Boston in John Cole's boat. The administration of his estate was granted to his brother-in-law William Spencer. The inventory was submitted to the Suffolk County Probate Court in Boston and amounted to &3163;94.

At a meeting of the Magistrates and Recorded, at Boston, the 8th September, 1665...Whereas Thomas Ethrington of Newichewannok, perished with His wife in the sea, Coming for Boston. The County Court being then Informed thereof, & that Zechariah Gillam had his Chest & severall goods in his Custody, the Court, on his Motion, appointed Marshall Richard Wayte & Thomas Fitche, Late Constable, to take into their Hands the said Chest & Goods & Bring a true Inventorye thereof into Court...And Wm. Spencer, the sonne of Thomas Spencer, & Brother in Law to the said Thomas Ethrington, appearing Before the Magistrates & Recorder, desiring administration to ye Estate of said Late Thomas Ethrington as it Lyeth heere, & in Yorkshire [Maine]... The Magistrates Judge it meete to graunt him, the sd Wm. Spencer, Administration to the Estate of Thomas Ethrington, both there & heer...in Behalfe of the children of the Late Thomas Ethrington...Thomas Ethrington, Deceased, sometime Inhabitant of the Town of Kittrye, at Newitchewanneck, whom with his Wife was Cast away in John Coles Lighter in November 1664...
