Hampshire County, Massachusetts

The USGenWeb Project

Hampshire County was formed in 1662 out of Middlesex County.
(Originally of the Massachusetts Bay Colony which was
organized into counties in 1643.)

Welcome to the Hampshire County website for the USGenWeb Project. This site is being managed by Sue Downhill. A warm thank-you to former site coordinators, Cindy Brown and Laurel Donnell, for having invested their energy in establishing and maintaining the site prior to this time.

This site is in process of being restructured, so stop back to take a look now and then. The development of this web site is gratis -- free -- and therefore is often a slow process, for volunteer time is not always in abundance. Should you have time to become involved in the transcription of public domain material that will be of genealogical or historical interest, you are encouraged to contact Sue. The success or failure of a site depends on contributors, take a peek at the rich material available on the Berkshire County site, thanks to volunteer effort and you can see what I mean. Sometime in mid-August I will be creating a page with listings of material available for transcription volunteers.
