From David Topping: david@ecocode.info

From my research I believe Eliza Cadby dau. of Charles (Lon 131) was my
GG Grandmother.

Eliza Ann (or Annie) married William Howe Blacker Macann (Listed as
Maccann on their wedding cert.) 14 Sep. 1863 at Merrington Parish
Church, Durham, North East England. [Witnesses: Robert Charlton &
Hannah Wilson] William [b. abt 1818] was from Londonderry, Ireland and
this was his second marriage. At the time of their marriage he was
listed as a farmer but on later Censuses is listed as a teacher of
classics and/or languages. He died May 7 1890 in Kirkham Workhouse
which is just outside Blackpool, North West England.

They had five children William Charles Cadby [b. Durham Oct 5 1863 (3
weeks after the wedding) d. 1934 Rhyl, Wales] Annie Stuart Cadby [b.
Cardiff, South Wales 1865 d. Blackpool 13 Oct 1893] Edith L. V. [b.
Belfast, Ireland 1867] Arthur H. B. [b. Manchester 1872] and Amanda
Eliza Christina [b. Salford, Manchester 14 Dec 1875].

Annie Stuart married my G Grandfather James William Topping in 1883. I
believe she died of complications after giving birth to their 5th Child
Hilda Edith Topping in 1893. In the 1901 Census Eliza is listed as
living in Rhyl with Hilda, William Charles (who never married) and
Edith and husband John Williams a photographer. When I have chance I
intend to visit Rhyl, I live in South Wales near Cardiff though I was
born in Blackpool, and see if there are any photographic resources they
may have left.

Just one more snippet, my father mentioned that one of his relatives
was known as the grand old lady of Rhyl. I think this was Eliza.

I would love to find images of any of these people or get copies of any
documents so if anyone can help it would be great.

GEORGE - B 1814 , married (1) Elizabeth Taylor on 5 Sep 1834 at St Marylebone.
Lon 136 married (2) Sarah Cannon on 16 Jan 1835 at Limehouse.
= 387? Known children :
           Margaret Ann , Birth: 20 DEC 1835, C 7 May 1837 at St Pancras
                                          Old Church, Saint Pancras, London

** George was tried for Bigamy on 5 Apr 1838 and found guilty .
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I looked up the details for Margaret Ann Cadby's baptism (daughter of George Cadby Lon 136 & Sarah Cannon).
The entry in the Baptism records for St Pancras reads: "Baptised 7 May 1837 Margaret Ann daughter of
George & Sarah Cadby, New Road, Baker, born 20 December 1835." New Road is now Euston Road/Marylebone Road.

I have not been able to find Margaret Ann Cadby born 1835 in the 1851
census - either as Cadby or as Bellsinger/Bellringer.

Margaret Ann Cadby married in 1857:

Parish Church of Islington, County of Middlesex
18 Nov 1857 William White, of full age, Widower, Coach painter, 32 Freeling
St, father William White, Coach Labourer, married Margaret Ann Cadby, of
full age, Spinster, 32 Freeling St, father George Cadby, Baker. Married by
Banns. William White signed & Margaret Ann Cadby made her mark. Witnesses
G. Allen & L. Williams.

The address (32 Freeling St) given by William White & Margaret Ann Cadby in 1857
is the same as that occupied by George Cadby (Lon 387), baker & his 'wife' Caroline in the 1851 census.
It therefore appears reasonable to suppose that Lon 136 and Lon 387 are likely to be one and the same person.

On May 29, 1887 Ann Maria Cadby at age 20 married a Frank Percy Morton age 21, in the Parish of
St. Michael Southwark, Surrey, England. On the certificate of marriage it states that Ann's father was
James Joseph Cadby, who is actually her brother, and it was witnessed by Amelia Cadby her sister,
her parents were Francis and Ann. I'm not sure why Francis did not sign the marriage certificate,
maybe he was deceased.
