Dundas, Ontario, population 20,000 , which held a town charter from 1848 until 2001 is now a constituent community of the city of Hamilton in Wentworth County. The town was incorporated in 1847, and named by John Graves Simcoe, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada for his friend, Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville.
