Cochrane, Ontario, population 5500, is a town in Northern Ontario. It was founded as a railway town, and incorporated in 1910. Named for a local politician, Cochrane is home to the Polar Bear Conservation and Education Habitat, which is the only polar bear rehabilitation facility in the world Today, the main industries are the railway, which serves communities to the north, and the lumber industry.
