It was privatly published by Roland Nigel Davies, PO Box 843, Leichhardt NSW 2040, Australia. Jacob Josephson was the first Josephson to arrive in this country all be it as a convict. He came here from Poland via Hamburg(Germany)...2,6,7,8,9,10'

He was enlisted in the Australian Army during the Great War [WWI], Service Number 10265, at 'Holdsworthy (Holsworthy), New South Wales', on 20 September 1915, giving his next of kin as his father James Josephson and the National Archives of Australia hold an item in the Series B2455. His mother was also given as 'Mrs M Josephson, Frederick Street, Bexley, New South Wales'. He embarked at Sydney, Australia, with the Rank of Gunner, 38th Infantry on 17 December 1915, on HMAT Berrima A35. He was age 21, an Engineer, of "La Mascot", Frederick Street, Bexley, New South Wales, and a Presbyterian.11,12,13,5,14,15

He married Beryl Catherine Selig, daughter of Phineas Selig and Kate Mendelsohn, on 17 April 1923 at New Zealand; and their marriage was recorded in New Zealand. (This was after an announcement of their Engagement placed in The Sydney Morning Herald of 8 November 1920. She was described as 'the younger daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Selig of Christchurch, New Zealand' and he was 'the eldest son of Mrs M Josephson of Sydney'. The announcement goes on to say that he was 'a great-grandson of the late Judge Josephson' and 'had served in the war for four years').1,16,17,18 Oscar Lewis Gilbert Josephson was an elector listed at least twice on the Australian Electoral Rolls dated 1901-1936, at Wentworth as well as at Warringah and Mackellar at New South Wales, Australia.19 He lived on 15 August 1954 at 72 Fairlight Street, Manly, New South Wales, Australia; and he was a Company Director of Anglo-United Petroleum Company Limited.20 He died on 14 February 1968 at New South Wales, Australia, at age 73; and his death was recorded at Newtown District and published in The Sydney Morning Herald three days later.2,21 He was buried at Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens, North Ryde, New South Wales, Australia.22,23
