She was the daughter of Thomas Rayment and he was the son of John Nokes.3,4,5,6 James Nokes died on 26 May 1877 at The King's Head, Brentwood, Essex, England, at age 45; and his death was recorded at Billericay Registration district in the June quarter 1877.7,8 His estate was probated on 27 July 1877; and he was described as 'formerly of Busbridge Farm Godalming in the county of Surrey but late of the "King's Head" Inn Brentwood in the county of Essex'.
