'Born in Boston, his parents joined the Jewish exodus from Roxbury to Brookline when he was in early elementary school. He then lived in Brookline until his death at 92, all within a 6 block radius of Coolidge Corner, except for his 4 years at Harvard College (class of ‘49). He went to Boston College Law School, and practiced general civil law, first with his father Joe, and then on his own, until the age of 91. He raised three sons together with his wife Betsy, who predeceased him in 2002. He was active in various civic organizations, including the Shawmut Lodge of Masons, Jewish National Fund, and the Temple Israel brotherhood. He served as an elected Brookline Town Meeting member for two decades.6'
