     Frederick Josiah Laker was born in 1858 at Horsham, Sussex, England; and his birth was recorded at Horsham record office in the September quarter 1858.1,3 He was the son of Joseph Laker and Lydia Manser.2 Frederick Josiah Laker married Sarah Ann Slyfield, daughter of Job Slyfield and Eleanor Hattey, in 1885 at Berkshire, England; and their marriage was registered in the June quarter 1885 at Reading Registration district, Berkshire.1,4 Frederick Josiah Laker appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at Woking, Surrey, England, as Head, married, age 32, birthplace Horsham, Sussex, and he was a Relieving Officer.1 He died in 1896; and his Death was recorded at Reading record office in the March quarter 1896.5
