     Walter Stephen Ernest Ager was born on 26 January 1887 at East Ham, London, England; and his birth was recorded at West Ham Registration district in the March quarter 1887.1,3 He was the son of Samuel Ager and Clara Rosina Harvey.2 Walter Stephen Ernest Ager was baptized on 13 February 1887 at St Luke, Victoria Dock, Canning Town, Essex, England; and his abode was 37 Lansdowne Road.3 He appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at 22 Queens Road, Canning Town, Essex, England, as Son, age 4, birthplace Canning Town, Essex, and he was a Scholar.4 He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 40 Clifford Road, Plaistow, Essex, England, as Son, age 14, birthplace Canning Town, Essex, and he worked as an Office Boy for a Warehouse.5

He began military service before 1912 with The 4th Volunteers Bn Essex Regiment.6,7 He joined the Australian Military Forces where he became Lance Corporal 44th Battn. Reg No.2775 and was photographed in his uniform. His occupation was Telephone Linesman and he was single on 17 October 1916 at Blackboy Hill, Greenmount, Western Australia, Australia.8,6,9 He was according to the Australian First World War Embarkation Rolls recorded as follows:

He married Isobella Jack on 6 April 1918 at Presbyterian Church, North Perth, Western Australia, Australia.2,11 Walter Stephen Ernest Ager and Isobella Jack were photographed with their firstborn son Walter Gordon Ager in 1919 at North Perth, Western Australia, Australia.12 Walter Stephen Ernest Ager and Isobella Jack lived in 1925 at 18 Ruby Street, Balcatta, Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia; where they appeared on the Electoral Roll; she was doing home duties and he was a civil servant.13 Walter Stephen Ernest Ager died on 17 July 1930 at Public Hospital Perth, Perth, Western Australia, Australia, at age 43.14,15,16 He was the subject of an obituary in The West Australian on 18 July 1930
