This record gives his age on enlistment in 1914 as 23, birthplace Sydenham, Kent, and he was a Butcher who signed up at Woolwich on 31 August 1914. He was five foot seven and a quarter inches in height, weighed 116 ilbs, had a fresh complexion, hazel eyes and dark brown hair.⁹ He married Lily Philbrook, daughter of William Philbrook and Eliza Alice Hunter, in 1915 at England; and their marriage was recorded at Lewisham Registration district in the June quarter 1915.¹ Sgt Sydney William Seabrook M.M. acknowledged receipt of the Military Medal, as announced in The Supplement to The London Gazette dated 2 April 1918: '95143 Sjt. S. W. Seabrook, R.F.A. (Catford S, S.E.)'. This medal was instituted from 25 March 1916 for acts of gallantary and devotion performed in the field of duty performed by warrant and non-commissioned officers on 14 August 1917.^9,10 He was 'invalided to England' on 1 February 1918.⁹ He was 'sent to Dispersal Centre, Crystal Palace' on 4 March 1919.⁹ He and Lily Philbrook lived on 29 September 1939 at 75 Osborne Square, Dagenham, Essex, England; where they were on the 1939 Register.⁷ Sgt Sydney William Seabrook M.M. died in 1970 at London, England; and his death was recorded as Sidney William Seabrook at Islington Registration district in the June quarter 1970.³

At the time of her Baptism her Father was a Carman.^4,5,3 She appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at Sydenham Park College, Sydenham, Kent, England, as Servant, age 19, birthplace Walworth, and she was a Housemaid.⁶ She married James George Philbrook, son of James Philbrook and Ann Thornton, in 1873; and their marriage was recorded at Lewisham Registration district in the December quarter 1873.² Elizabeth Sarah Gould appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at 54 Prospect Road, Lewisham, London, England, as Wife, age 29, birthplace Walworth, Surrey.⁷ She appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at 48 Bradford Road, Sydenham, London, England, as Sarah E Philbrook, Wife, age 38, birthplace Newington, Surrey.⁸ She appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 48 Bradford Road, Sydenham, Kent, England, as Wife, age 49, birthplace Walworth.⁹ She appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 48 Bradford Road, Sydenham, London, England, as Wife, age 59, birthplace Lewisham, 11 children born alive, eight still alive.¹⁰ She and James George Philbrook emigrated from Liverpool, Lancashire, England; to Quebec, Canada, with several of their children sailing on the Megantic arriving on 6 May 1912.^11,12 Elizabeth Sarah Gould appeared on the census of 1921 at 59 Ward Street, Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as Mother-in-law of Edwin Whiffen (and Mother of Ella), widowed, age 70, birthplace England, immigration year 1912.¹³ She died on 5 February 1936 at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, at age 84; at age 83.^14,4 She was buried on 10 February 1936 at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.^14,15,4

     Dorothy Rosa Hill was christened on 7 May 1905 at St John the Baptist, Bisley, Surrey, England; and her birth was recorded at Chertsey registration office in the June quarter 1905.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of James Hill and Rosa Hone.¹ Dorothy Rosa Hill appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at Riding Hill, Bisley, Surrey, England, as daughter, age 6, birthplace Bisley, Surrey.⁴ She died in 1965; and her death was recorded at Surrey N W record office in the December quarter 1965.⁵

Her Naturalization papers cover Poland and Russia.^3,4,5 She was the daughter of Abraham Joseph Rosen and Rebecca (?).^1,2 Sarah Rosen appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 210 Askew Road, Gateshead, Durham, England, as Daughter, age 6, birthplace Scotland; she was living with her parents and four siblings.² She married Horatio Drielsma Jones, son of Grenville Horatio Jones LDS and Kate Crawford Drielsma, on 6 October 1920 at Old Hebrew Congregation, Liverpool, Lancashire, England; and their marriage was recorded at Toxteth Park Registration district in the December quarter 1920 and in the Liverpool Old Herew Congregation Registers. Horatio was described as age 27, dentist, of 94 Conway Street, Birkenhead. Sarah was described as age 27, a private secretary of 49 Kenilworth Road, Wallasey.^1,6,7

She was naturalized in 1924 at New York, United States of America; with her husand and son David.⁵ She appeared on the census of 1930 at Beach Street, Mount Vernon City, Westchester, New York, United States of America, as Sara J Jones, Wife, age 36, birthplace Poland. Her father's birthplace was given as England, her mother's birthplace as Poland; her Mother tongue was Polish and she spoke English. Her immigration year was 1923.⁸ She appeared on the census of 1940 at Mount Vernon, Mount Vernon City, Westchester, New York, United States of America, as Sara Jones, Wife, age 46, birthplace 'England', and she was a Clerk at a Library.^9,8

     Glennis Alwyn Leigh Carpenter was born on 2 August 1928 at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia; and his parents were: William George Leigh Carpenter b: 1893 in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia and
Myrtle May Guy b: 1895 in Adelaide, South Australia.^2,3 He married Margaret Rose Dibden, daughter of George Levason Dibden and Alice Winifred Smith, on 29 November 1952 at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, and they had six children.^1,2,4,5,6 Glennis Alwyn Leigh Carpenter died on 17 April 1995 at Port Augusta, South Australia, Australia, at age 66.^2,3

     Charles Maidment was born circa 1819 at Mere, Wiltshire, England.¹ He married Rebecca Futcher in 1847; and their marriage was recorded at Wimborne Registration office in the December quarter 1847.^1,2 Charles Maidment appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at Wokingham, Berkshire, England, as Head, married, age 52, birthplace Mere, Wiltshire.¹ He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at 11 Peach Street, Wokingham, Berkshire, England, as head, age 62, married, birthplace Mere, Wiltshire, England.³

     Richard Wyatt was born circa 1770. He married Ann Glover, daughter of Benjamin Glover and Elizabeth Slyfield, on 23 September 1794 at St Peter, Ash, Surrey, England.¹

      Her married name was Maidment.¹ Rebecca Futcher was born circa 1827 at St Giles, Dorset, England.¹ She married Charles Maidment in 1847; and their marriage was recorded at Wimborne Registration office in the December quarter 1847.^1,2 Rebecca Futcher appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at Wokingham, Berkshire, England, as Wife, age 44, birthplace St Giles, Dorset.¹

     Reginald Harry Tune was born on 8 February 1892 at Alton, Hampshire, England; and his birth was registered in the March quarter 1892 at Alton Registration district.^2,4,5,3 He was the son of Harry Tune and Jane Elizabeth Carpenter.² Reginald Harry Tune was baptized on 1 August 1894 at St John the Evangelist, Paddington, London, England.⁵ He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 13 Portpool Lane, Holborn, London, England, as Son, age 9, born Alton, Hampshire.² He appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 4 Burfield Street, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England, as Son, age 19, birthplace Hampshire, and he was a Clerk in a Private Firm.⁶


He was in the Army in 'WW1 on the Somme and, as far as we know, either in charge of, or something to do with the management of, a prisoner of war camp. We have some photos of it, together with his Commission signed by the King. I regret not asking him more about his time in France, but we all knew that it was very traumatic and that he didn't like talking about it. The war ruined his career as a professional musician and he spent the remainder of his working life selling second-hand and antique furniture in around Hammersmith in West London. When he was first married (in 1922) he used to teach the piano privately in his home, but it was a poor exchange for his musical career. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music before WW1, and one of the stories about him is that he used to play the organ in the Albert Hall during WW2 as the concerts had stopped and the organ needed to be kept in working order. My [second] brother remembers going with him when he played there' writes Reginald's youngest daughter.⁷


He was awarded medal(s) and The National Archives WWI Campaign Medal Cards contain the following information on his War Service:

     'Household Battalion, Rank:Temporary Second Lieutenant and London Regiment, Rank: Lieutenant'

between 1914 and 1920.⁸ He was gazetted and The 'London Gazette Issue 29920 published on the 26 January 1917' refers to the first of these events in the following notice:

     'THE RESERVE HOUSEHOLD BATTALION. Cadet Reginald Harry Tune to be temp. 2nd Lt. (on prob.) 18th Jan. 1917.⁹'

He married Emily Margaret Madden on 10 June 1922 at Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; and their marriage was registered in the June quarter 1922 at Hammersmith Registration district.^10,11,12 Reginald Harry Tune lived at 4 Burfield Street, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; and he was on the Electoral Roll, with his parents and two siblings in 1927 and 1928 at this addres. Added to the Electoral Roll in 1929 were his wife and sister Constance Belmont. In 1930 Maud Matilda Tune was also recorded as an Elector. By 1934 his parents, wife and sister completed the Electoral Roll.¹³ He lived between 1930 and 1937 at 4 Burfield Street, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England.¹⁴ He lived between 1939 and 1960 at 3 Glenthorne Road, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; and during this time House Furnisher/Home Furnishing ('Ho. Furn.') was added to his entry.¹⁵ He and Emily Margaret Madden lived on 29 September 1939 at Burfield Street, Hammersmith, London, England; where they were on the 1939 Register, when he was a Furniture Dealer.¹⁶ Reginald Harry Tune was executor for his Brother and the 1950 National Probate Calendar records that Alexander Walter Tune was 'of 22 Brixham Crescent Ruislip Manor Middlesex' and Administration was granted in London to 'Evelyn Tune widow and Reginald Tune auctioneer' on 12 August 1950.¹⁷ He lived between 1961 and 1969 at 85 Hammersmith Grove, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; and during this time House Furnisher was part of the entry. It appears the business carried on for several years after his death.^18,19

He died on 12 April 1969 at London, England, at age 77; and his death was recorded in the June quarter 1969 at Hammersmith Registration district.^10,4,12,19 His estate was probated on 8 April 1970; and Probate was granted at London Registry, England. He was 'of 85 Hammersmith Grove London W.6.²⁰'

      Constance Belmont Tune also went by the name of Doll.³ She was born on 10 May 1900 at Holborn, London, England; and her birth was registered in the June quarter 1900 at Holborn Registration district.^1,2,4 She was the daughter of Harry Tune and Jane Elizabeth Carpenter.¹ Constance Belmont Tune appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 13 Portpool Lane, Holborn, London, England, as Daughter, age 11 months, born Holborn, London.¹ She appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at 4 Burfield Street, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England, as Daughter, age 11, birthplace London.⁵ She lived between 1929 and 1938 at 4 Burfield Street, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; and she was on the Electoral Roll with several family members.⁶ She lived on 29 September 1939 at Burfield Street, Hammersmith, London, England; where she was on the 1939 Register, when she was a Stationery Clerk.⁷ As of 1944, her married name was Webb.⁸ She married Fred Webb in 1944 at London, England; and their marriage was recorded at Hammersmith Registration district in the March quarter 1944.⁸ Constance Belmont Tune and Fred Webb lived in 1945 at Burfield Street, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; where they were listed on the London Electoral Register.⁹ Constance Belmont Tune and Fred Webb lived between 1955 and 1956 at 13 Stowe Road, Hammersmith, Middlesex, London, England; where they were listed on the London Electoral Register with Freda Webb.¹⁰ Constance Belmont Tune was executrix for her husband and the 1957 National Probate Calendar records he was 'of 23 Llanarth-street Wattsville Monmouthshire' and Administration was granted at Llandaff 'to Constance Belmont Webb widow' on 19 July 1957.¹¹ As of 1958, her married name was Oliver.¹² She married William George Oliver in 1958 at Monmouthshire, Wales; and their marriage was recorded at Caerleon Registration district in the December quarter 1958.¹³ Constance Belmont Tune died in 1977 at Gwent, Wales; and her death was recorded at Newport Registration district in the December quarter 1977.⁴
