The witnesses signed as Nimrod Philbrook and A Philbrook.      Henry Arthur Philbrook was born on 26 August 1870 at Sydenham, Kent, England; and his birth was recorded at Lewisham Registration district in the December quarter 1871.2,1,3 He was the son of James Philbrook and Ann Thornton.2 Henry Arthur Philbrook appeared on the census of 3 May 1881 at 13 Elder Road, Norwood, Kent, England, as Son, age 9, birthplace Sydenham, Kent, and he was a Scholar.2 He married Eliza Jane Dicketts in 1898 at Surrey, England; and their marriage as Eliza Jane Dicketts and Henry Arthur Philbrook was recorded at Lambeth Registration district in the December quarter 1898.4,5 Henry Arthur Philbrook could well be referred to in the following items, TNA reference LBL/BV/PF/1, dated February 1905-June 1911, held at Lambeth Archives, London, described as: 'Land at Salter's Hill, West Norwood, (now Norwood Park). His entry was stamped 'British Bonus Allowed.10' He was listed in names of Western Land Grants (1870-1930), with legal land description: Part NW Section 22 Township 58 Range W4 Meridian 21, the papers for which are now held in the Library and Archives of Canada between 1910 and 1930.11 He lived in 1927 at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.3 He died on 8 September 1953 at Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at age 83; His length of stay in the province was 26 years and in Canada 43 years.      James Frederick Philbrook was born on 20 July 1899 at Norwood, Surrey, England; and his birth was recorded at Lambeth Registration district, Surrey, in the September quarter 1899.3,4 He was the son of Henry Arthur Philbrook and Eliza Jane Dicketts.1 James Frederick Philbrook appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Rose Cottage, Elder Road, Norwood, London, England, as Frederick Phillbrook, Grandson of James Philbrook, age 1, birthplace Norwood, Surrey.1 He emigrated on 22 June 1910; and he was recorded arriving as Fred. Philbrook, single, age 10, with his mother and three siblings on a Canadian Passenger List aboard the Empress of Britain travelling from Liverpool, England, to Quebec, Canada. He had not been to Canada before.5,6 He married Loie Seville Crowther on 18 November 1931 at 3749 Triumph Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; by License and he was a 32 year old Bachelor, religious denomination Baptist, Automobile Mechanic, of Vancouver, birthplace London, England, son of Henry Arthur Philbrook and Lilian Dicketts. She was recorded as Lois Seville Crowther a 26 year old Spinster, relilious denomination United Church of Canada, birthplace Burnaby, British Columbia, daughter of Jno Wm Crowther and Hanna Seville. Their witnesses were John William Crowther of Burnaby, British Columbia and Henry Arthur Philbrook of Vancouver and the Clergyman was William Graham, United Church of Canada.7,8 James Frederick Philbrook and Loie Seville Crowther lived between 1957 and 1965 at South Fell Avenue, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada; where they appeared on the 1962 Voters List as James F.      Sarah Ann Hawkins was baptized on 25 February 1855 at Cove, Farnborough, Hampshire, England.1,3 She married Frederick Cheeseman, son of John Cheeseman and Mary Ann Hone, on 30 August 1884 at St Michael and All Angels, Pirbright, Surrey, England; and their marriage was recorded at Guildford record office in the September quarter 1884.2,4 Sarah Ann Hawkins appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at Chobham, Surrey, England, as Wife, age 36, birthplace Cove, Hampshire.1 She died in 1928 at Surrey, England; and her death was recorded at Chertsey registration office in the December quarter 1928.5
