The following list of software is in no particular order. It in no way endorses any particular program, but is merely to provide information for genealogists.

REUNION Reunion for Macintosh

A commercial program by Leister Productions.

Version 4.0 was reviewed in the June 1995 issue of MacWorld and in the January 1996 issue of MacUser.

Version 5.0 was reviewed in the January 1998 issue of MacWorld.

Version 6.0 was reviewed in the June 1999 issue of MacHomeJournal.

Version 7.0 was reviewed in the Winter 2001 issue of Genealogical Computing, the December 2000 issue of MacWorld, and the December 2000 issue of Family Tree Magazine.

Latest version: 8.05 (released 12-05-2003).

PAF Personal Ancestral File

A commercial program by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Version 2.1 was reviewed in the September 1989 issue of MacWorld and in the January 1996 issue of MacUser.

Latest version: 2.31 (released 03-13-1996).

Cost: $10.00.

GENE Gene

A shareware program by Diana & David Eppstein.

Version 4.0 was reviewed in the June 1995 issue of MacWorld and in the January 1996 issue of MacUser.

Latest version: 4.3.4 (released 04-29-2001).

MACSTAMMBAUM MacFamilyTree

A shareware program by Stefan Sicurella.

Latest version: 3.6.5 (released 10-04-2003).

Versions in French (MacGénéalogie), German & Swedish (MacStammbaum), Dutch (MacStamboom), Danish (MacStamtræ), Norwegian (MacStamTre), Finnish (MacSukupuu), Italian (MacGenealogia), and Spanish (GenealogíaMac), are also available.

GEDITCOM GEDitCOM

GEDitCOM is the customizable genealogy application for the Macintosh for editing and viewing GEDCOM genealogy files. Using the GEDitCOM customization features, you can design your own genealogy user interface. Or, if you prefer, you can use the Default GEDitCOM Format that comes with GEDitCOM and provides a powerful, user-friendly interface with 100% access to all features of the GEDCOM standard.

GEDitCOM was written by John A. Nairn. It is FREE as a GEDCOM file browser and SHAREWARE to be a GEDCOM file editor. If you like the demo, you can unlock it to be a full GEDCOM file editor by registering on line for $49.99 (one-time fee includes future upgrades).
