Hale, Samuel Whitney (1823-1891) — also known as Samuel W. Hale — of Keene, Cheshire County, N.H. Born in Fitchburg, Worcester County, Mass., April 2, 1823. Republican. Member of New Hampshire Governor's Council, 1869-71; delegate to Republican National Convention from New Hampshire, 1880; Governor of New Hampshire, 1883-85. Died October 16, 1891. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Keene, N.H.
