William Blanchard was born in Brookfield, Mass., Oct. 1, 1800. In 1826 he
married to isabella F. Foster, who was born in Worcester, Mass. he removed the same year to Rhinebeck, N.Y., and in 1835 to Richmond, he commenced the mercantile
business, in which he continued until about the year 1859. He has been for many years a notary public and an insurance agent; and he has been an elder in the Presbyterian Church from its organization to the present time. His children were Fatima, Catharine, Wm. A., Jane Eliza, Mary I., and Emma. Fatima C. married W.J. Culton, and resided in Chicago. Wm. A. married Elmira Bailey, of Cincinnati; resides near that city, and is in the commission business. Jane E. married Dr. Harrington, of Richmond, who died and left two daughters. Mary I. married George II. Grant; they reside in Richmond. Emma married Frank Vanuxem, of the firm of Leeds & Co., hardware merchants in Richmond.
