WILLIAM HOOPER

Hooper, William (1742-1790) — of North Carolina. Born in Boston, Suffolk County, Mass., June 17, 1742. Great-great-grandfather of Warren Green Hooper. Delegate to Continental Congress from North Carolina, 1774-77; signer, Declaration of Independence, 1776; member of North Carolina state legislature, 1777-78. Episcopalian. Member, Freemasons. Died in Hillsborough, Orange County, N.C., October 14, 1790. Interment at Guilford Battle Grounds, Greensboro, N.C.
