ROGER VOSE
Vose, Roger
(1763-1841), a Representative from New Hampshire; born in Milton, Norfolk County, Mass., February 24, 1763; moved to
New Hampshire in 1766 with his parents, who settled near Walpole, Cheshire County; was graduated from Harvard
University in 1790; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1793 and commenced practice in Walpole, N.H.; member of
the State senate in 1809, 1810, and 1812; elected as a Federalist to the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Congresses (March
4, 1813-March 3, 1817); member of the State house of representatives in 1818; chief justice of the court of common
pleas 1818-1820; chief justice of the court of sessions 1820-1825; resumed the practice of law; died in Walpole,
Cheshire County, N.H., October 26, 1841; interment in the Village Cemetery.
