U.S. Senator from Michigan, 1955-66; died in office 1966; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Michigan, 1956, 1960. Member, Americans for Democratic Action. Died in Bethesda, Montgomery County, Md., April 30, 1966. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, Mich.
