Born in Dublin, N. H., November 30, 1866; graduate of Amherst College, 1889; studied three years in the College of France and the Sorbonne, the Universities of Berlin and Leipsic; graduate of the latter, with degree of Doctor of Philosophy, 1894; Honorary Fellow at Clark University, 1894 - 95, studying psychology and education. Superintendent at Ware, Mass., 1895 - 97; Superintendent Passaic, N. J., 1897 - 1904; Superintendent Newton, Mass, since 1904.

Joint author with Catherine T. Bryce of 'The Aldine Readers," "The Passaic Primer," "Living Thoughts for all Ages" (3 Vols. of Memory Gems), "The Page Reader."

Lectures on educational subjects.
