 John T. Boyden, undertaker, Lincoln, was born near Conway, Franklin
 County, Massachusetts, September 5, 1849.  He was reared on a farm till his
 fourteenth year, and was educated at a private school in Conway, and at
 Conway Academy.  In his fifteenth year he was employed as a clerk in the
 wholesale boot and shoe store of Hixon, Barney & Shaw, at Springfield,
 Massachusetts, for one year, and in 1864 he came to Logan County, Illinois
 he located at Lincoln, where he clerked for Aogeson & Smith about six
 months when he went to McLean, mcLean Clunty, Illinois, and had charge of the
 elevator of H.F. Lewis & Co. for six months.  he then went to Chicago
 where he was employed by the same firm as salesman on the Board of Trade for
 three years.  In 1869 he returned to Lincoln and was employed as teller in the
 private bank of William F. Dustin for ten years.  He then, in 1880,
 engaged in the undertaking business.  In the fall of 1880 he was elected coroner
 of Logan County, and re-elected in 1882, serving in all four years.  He was
 married at Lincoln, December 25, 1872, to Flora Warner.  They have three
 children-Nellie Edna, George L. and John H.  In politics Mr. Boyden is a
 Republican.  He is a member of Lincoln Lodge, No. 204, I.O.O.F.  he is
 also a member of Lincoln Lodge, No. 210, A.F. & A.M.; Lincoln Chapter, No. 147,
 and Contantine Commandery, No. 51.
