Osgood, Samuel (1748-1813) — Born in Andover, Essex County, Mass., February 3, 1748. Colonel in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War; member of Massachusetts state senate, 1780; Delegate to Continental Congress from Massachusetts, 1781-84; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives, 1784; U.S. Postmaster General, 1789-91; member of New York state assembly, 1800-03. Died August 12, 1813 New York, New York. Interment at Brick Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, N.Y.
