Lane, Thomas Joseph (1898-1994) — also known as Thomas J. Lane — of Lawrence, Essex County, Mass. Born in Lawrence, Essex County, Mass., July 6, 1898. Democrat. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; lawyer; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives, 1927-38; member of Massachusetts state senate, 1939-41; U.S. Representative from Massachusetts 7th District, 1941-63; elected unopposed 1942, 1954, 1960; defeated, 1962 (5th District); member of Massachusetts Governor's Council, 1965-70. Died in Lawrence, Essex County, Mass., June 14, 1994. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover, Mass.
